Resource Merchant Capital (RMC), an Alberta-based private capital firm, has acquired Force Inspection Services, a Nisku-based business with satellite operations in Grande Prairie.

Force, which specializes in the inspection, repair, storage and management of drill pipe, drill collars, tubing, casing, and bottom-hole assemblies, offers complete in-shop services at the Nisku and Grande Prairie facilities, and offers field level services across the Western Canadian Sedimentary Basin through a suite of mobile inspection/repair units.

“We are excited to continue building on the platform that Force has built to date,” said Nicholas Donohoe of RMC. “With the dramatic trend in the industry towards horizontal wells, we are putting significantly more stress on drill pipe, BHA’s and other tubulars. We believe that there are a lot of pockets in the industry that have to catch up to the rapid advances made in drilling and Force’s business sector is one example”.

John Maygard from Force believes that that acquisition will help Force to reach the next level of quality and focus, improving the overall services for Force’s customers. “When I started Force, I wanted to offer exceptional service to our customers, and to date our team has done a great job of doing just that,” said Maygard. “We have enjoyed a lot of growth, and believe the addition of the Resource team will help us to become the leading service provider in this segment.”

Established in 2012, RMC is relatively new to the capital market, but the founders bring a wealth of experience and believe they can shorten the growth cycle of targeted businesses.
